On to the path to a sustainable hospitality industry.

bai Hotel Cebu has recently embarked on an exciting and ambitious journey towards sustainable operations. Opened in 2017, the hotel has been steadfast in its commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and promoting responsible tourism practices. As part of our sustainability initiatives, the hotel has been implementing a comprehensive suite of eco-friendly measures across various aspects of its operations.

One of the key focus areas has been the hotel's waste management strategy, which includes the implementation of robust recycling and composting programs. The hotel has made significant strides in minimizing its waste generation and ensuring that the majority of its waste is diverted from landfills and incinerators, contributing to a more circular economy. In addition to these operational changes, bai Hotel Cebu has also been actively engaging its guests in its sustainability journey.

The hotel has introduced various educational and awareness-raising initiatives to encourage its patrons to adopt more environmentally conscious behaviors during their stay. This includes providing informative materials about the hotel's sustainability efforts, offering guests the option to participate in recycling and composting initiatives. The hotel's commitment to sustainability has not gone unnoticed.

In 2024, bai Hotel Cebu was honored with the prestigious Cebu Tourism and Hospitality Awards as the Sustainability Champion, a recognition that serves as a testament to the hotel's dedication and the tangible results of its sustainability initiatives.

The award was presented to the hotel's representative, Karissa Boaquen, the Hygiene and Sanitation Manager, who was joined by Hamprey Granada, the hotel's Sustainability Coordinator, and Alfred Reyes, the VP for Operations and General Manager.

This accolade is not only a source of pride for the hotel but also a reflection of the broader shift towards sustainable practices within the tourism and hospitality industry in Mandaue and beyond. bai Hotel Cebu's sustainability journey serves as a shining example of how hotels can lead the way in creating a more sustainable future, while inspiring and empowering their guests to become active participants in this vital endeavor.

The Cebu Tourism and Hospitality Awards, inaugurated 2022, has been awarding employees and properties industry who have excelled in their field of operations or in their expertise. This award giving body is spearheaded by HRRAC or the Hotel, Resorts, and Restaurants Association of Cebu Inc., the official organization of hotels, resorts, restaurants, suppliers, and academe in the whole province of Cebu.
